The course encompasses a diverse array of disciplines within the realm of performing arts and lays the groundwork for further academic pursuits and professional opportunities in acting, performance, direction, scriptwriting, theatre-making and arts administration. As a student, you'll hone your abilities in various areas such as devising, physical theatre, solo performance, audition techniques, acting for camera, and participation in multiple productions hosted in our two theatres and various Bristol venues. This course is designed not only to nurture your individual communication and collaborative skills but also to provide you with first-hand experience within a theatre company setting.
Our Level 3 Acting extended pathway is equivalent to three A-Levels and offers an extensive curriculum tailored to aspiring actors, equipping them with the necessary skills to embark on a career within the performing arts industry. Throughout this course, you will immerse yourself in a comprehensive exploration of diverse acting techniques, cultivating proficiencies in physical expression, body language, voice modulation, and timing. Additionally, you will gain practical experience across a spectrum of theatrical genres, including classical, physical, contemporary, and community theatre.
In tandem with delving into the rich history of theatre and acting techniques, you will be presented with opportunities to refine your abilities in devising, physical theatre, stage combat, solo performance, audition techniques, and acting for the camera.
As you progress through the programme, you will actively participate in a multitude of productions a year held in our two theatres and various other venues across Bristol. This hands-on experience not only fosters your personal communication and collaborative skills but also provides invaluable insights into the dynamics of working within a professional theatre company.
Moreover, you'll find yourself in close proximity to our degree students, immersing yourself in a vibrant drama school environment. This unique setting ensures a rich and immersive learning experience. Notably, you'll enjoy a streamlined path to the recall stage audition for any of our BA (Hons) or Professional Diploma courses, setting the stage for your continued journey in the world of professional acting.
Alongside your study programme, you'll engage in the Plus+ programme, which is dedicated to developing your personal and social development, further enhancing your growth, readiness for the industry and success in the wider world.
Sports academies are available only to applicants aged 16-18.
