This one-year Level 2 course is designed for students who are both passionate about media production and eager to get hands-on experience. Designed for beginners, the course focuses on learning by doing rather than traditional classroom theory, giving you practical, real-world skills.
Throughout the year, you will work in groups to recreate professional film and TV scenes, taking on industry roles such as Director, Camera Operator and Screenwriter. You will also build personal or brand identities across digital platforms, exploring social media, design and marketing to understand how media professionals engage audiences. In addition, you will research, script, film and present news stories. This will develop your reporting, interviewing and editing skills while gaining confidence both on and off camera.
You will work on realistic industry-style projects, from pre-production and planning to filming, editing and presenting. By the end of the year, you’ll have a strong portfolio and an independent project (Final Major Project) based on your own creative interests. This will prepare you to progress to higher levels of study or employment within the creative industries.
This practical course focuses on real-world media projects that develop both your creativity and technical ability. You will complete:
A key requirement for future progression and employment is a good understanding and application of knowledge and skills in both English and Maths.

Or
A relevant Level 1 Diploma, plus at least one GCSE at grade 3/D in English or Maths.
