This course is designed to help you develop confidence, practical skills and the essential knowledge needed to progress to further study or employment. You will complete a range of hands-on units that build your organisation, teamwork and digital vocational skills. You will study transferable Skills in communication, working with others, problem solving and managing information. Units include:
Being Organised
You learn how to manage your time, meet deadlines
and keep your work organised. This includes using planners, to-do lists, filing
systems and digital tools to help improve your personal organisation.
Developing a Personal Progression Plan
You explore your strengths,
interests and future goals. You research possible courses or career paths and
create a progression plan outlining the steps you need to take to reach your
next destination.
Working with Others
You take part in a group task where you learn
how to communicate effectively, share responsibilities, solve problems and
support your team. You also review your own performance and give feedback to
others.
Researching a Topic
You choose a topic of interest, gather
information from different sources, keep a research log and present your
findings clearly. This builds your skills in planning, managing information and
communicating results.
Digital & IT Units
Using Digital Communication Technologies (IT6)
You learn to use
digital communication tools such as email, messaging, online meetings and social
media safely and appropriately. You practise creating and responding to messages
and understand online safety.
Creating a Spreadsheet to Solve Problems (IT8)
You use spreadsheet
software to carry out calculations, organise data and create charts to present
information clearly. This includes using basic formulas and functions to solve
simple problems.
Creating a Website (IT9)
You plan and create a simple website for a
chosen purpose and audience. You design pages, add text, images and links, and
consider layout, navigation and usability.
Creating a Storyboard (DM5)
You learn how storyboards are used in
media and create your own storyboard showing shots, camera angles, actions and
transitions. You communicate ideas visually and clearly.
Designing an Interactive Presentation (DM6)
You plan and produce an
interactive multimedia presentation using images, video, animation and
hyperlinks. You develop design skills and learn how to engage an audience
effectively.
