About the course

The Gateway Level 2 Certificate in Digital and IT Skills is a practical qualification designed to develop essential digital and IT skills for use across a wide range of industries. This course provides a strong foundation in using digital tools and technologies to support everyday tasks, problem solving and workplace activities, helping learners build confidence and capability in a modern digital environment.

Course content

Learners will develop practical knowledge and skills in key digital and IT areas, including:

  • Website design and basic development principles
  • Using a range of software applications effectively
  • Digital communication and collaboration tools
  • Planning and responding to a digital brief
  • Creating, refining and improving digital products, including websites

The course focuses on applying skills to real-world scenarios through practical tasks and projects.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

This course is delivered through a blended learning approach, combining:

  • Practical workshops in modern, fully equpped IT suites based at our Filton campus
  • Online learning activities
  • Supported independent study

Assessment is through a Portfolio of Evidence, based on practical tasks and projects that demonstrates learners' digital and IT skills.

What do I need to join

Applicants are expected to have:

  • Completed 'Digital Basics for the Modern World' or another Level 1 digital qualification, or
  • An equivalent level of basic digital knowledge and skills

On successful completion, learners can progress to:
