About the course

During this course we will be taking inspiration from nature and incorporating natural elements to our pottery, such as shells and leaves for imprinting, flowers for casting, ochre soils for colour and wild clay itself! We will explore different hand-building techniques to produce a selection of pots in a friendly and positive environment. Whether you are new to clay or have already experimented with it, this session is the perfect opportunity to get creative and introduce yourself to working with and processing wild clay.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

Through hands on lessons and creative demonstrations in sessions. You will be supported by the tutor in creating your own ideas and provided ideas to follow and adapt.

What do I need to join (Entry Requirements)

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the start of the academic year, to attend this course

Additional information

You may be eligible for a full fee waiver for this course if your household income is below the following thresholds:

England: £20,319 (based on ESFA guidelines)
Bristol area: £23,400 (based on WECA guidelines)

If you receive Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), or Universal Credit (UC), you may also be eligible. The income cap for Universal Credit is:

Single claimant: £617 per month
Joint claimants: £988 per month

You may be eligible for co-funding for this course, meaning you only pay £40.00 if you meet any of the following criteria and your household income is below £27,000:

Receiving Carer’s Allowance
Receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Receiving State Pension
Receiving Attendance Allowance
Providing evidence of a food bank voucher
Receiving Universal Credit with an income cap of:
- Single claimant: £817 per month
- Joint claimants: £1188 per month
