About the course

The Embroidered Landscapes and Drawing Basics course blends drawing fundamentals with scenic embroidery to help you bring natural forms and textures to life. Designed for beginners and those looking to deepen their creative practice, this course provides a nurturing environment to build skills in sketching landscapes and transforming them into beautiful stitched artwork.

Course content
 By the end of the course, students will have greater confidence in designing their own artwork and embroider them, enhanced understanding of shape and composition, and unique stitched designs inspired by the natural world.

You will have the opportunity to explore:
• Basics of landscape sketching, including shapes, textures, and details.
• Techniques to transition from sketches to embroidery.
• Layering stitches to add depth and realism to scenes.
• How to select and blend colours for natural effects.
• Developing original designs inspired by nature.

 

How is the course delivered and assessed?

There are no formal assessments.

The course will run for 3 Weeks, 5 hours a week – 2.5 hours on a Tuesday & 2.5 on a Thursday

Students will work towards a personal Tailored Learning Outcome regarding their physical health, mental health and developing stronger communities. During the beginning of the course, the tutor will spend 1:1 time with students to determine which learning outcome they would like to work towards.

Teaching will be delivered through a series of online workshops (via Microsoft Teams) and You will learn by observing demonstrations, group discussions, and by exploring new techniques with expert support. You will learn a great deal by experimenting and recording your own progress. Your tutor will always check your progress and help you with technical solutions.

About the tutor
Anurita Chandola is a Spacewear and textiles artist who has worked internationally with renowned brands. Anurita’s expertise lies in sustainable fashion, product and material innovation, and in designing solutions based on reducing waste in the fashion industry. She is a graduate from the Royal College of Art, where she focused on developing proficiency in the independent learning methods and practices of contemporary art and design. Anurita is currently researching on clothes that work in microgravity and is working as a Spacewear fashion and textiles artist.
What do I need to join (Entry Requirements)
Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the start of the academic year, to attend this course. There are no specific entry requirements for this workshop series, students just need a willingness to learn and an interest in the subject. Students will also need access to a computer and the internet is required to participate in the online workshops.

Pricing tiers

Subject to means / benefit tested, fees could be reduced to one of the following tiers:

Tier 1 - £10 materials (£20 stained glass)

Income under £20,319 (Gloucestershire) £23,400 (Bristol area)

Benefits - Universal Credit (UC) * Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).

Tier 2 - £40 (£50 stained glass)

Income – under £27,000 (Gloucestershire and Bristol)

Benefits - Universal Credit (UC) **, Carer’s Allowance, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), State Pension, Attendance Allowance and food bank voucher.

Tier 3 - £50 (£60 stained glass)

Income – Between £27,000 and £30,000

Tier 4 - £75 (£85 stained glass)

Income – Over £30,000

*UC Cap for Tier 1 for a sole claim £617per month and for a joint claim £988.
**UC Cap Tier 2 for a sole claim £817per month and for a joint claim £1188.

Single claimant: £617 per month
Joint claimants: £988 per month
Co-Funding – Pay Only £40
You may qualify for co-funding and only pay £40.00 if your household income is below £27,000 and you meet any of the following criteria:

Receiving Carer’s Allowance
Receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Receiving State Pension
Receiving Attendance Allowance
Providing evidence of a food bank voucher
Receiving Universal Credit with income under:
Single claimant: £817 per month
Joint claimants: £1,188 per month
Other Payment Options
Household income between £27,000 and £30,000: Pay £50.00
Household income over £30,000: Pay full course fee of £75.00
