Our Level 2 Animal Care course is a great starting point if you’re interested in working with animals or progressing into further study. This programme introduces you to the essential principles of animal care, health, and behaviour, giving you the confidence and skills needed to move forward in this exciting industry.

What do I need to join
In addition to a strong interest in animal care, you need to have at least a GCSE grade 3 in both English and Maths. It’s important to be committed, punctual and enthusiastic about learning and adopting new ideas and skills.
A solid understanding and application of knowledge in English and Maths is essential for future progression and employment. Learners will also take GCSE English and Maths as part of their overall programme, aiming to achieve a grade 4 in both subjects.
What can I do next
Upon successfully completing this course, you can progress to a Level 3 course in a related discipline or choose an apprenticeship to gain practical experience and further develop your skills.
Potential employment opportunities include working in kennels, catteries, pet stores, wildlife parks, dog grooming salons and zoological collections. We encourage all learners to seek additional voluntary work in these areas alongside their placements, as this can provide greater opportunities for employment after finishing the course
