About the course

The UAL Awarding Body Level 2 Award in Art and Design has been developed to provide students with an interest in creativity, art and design with the opportunity to explore different creative disciplines, materials, methods, processes and introduce theoretical skills that underpin creative practice. This course is also a potential stepping stone into further progression Arts studies for students wishing to progress into further education in the future, such as Access to HE level 3 Art and Design.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

Throughout the course, students will engage in a series of practical projects and critical studies, guided by experienced tutors who are passionate about the subject and dedicated to nurturing students' artistic growth. Students will develop their practical skills and expand their own creative responses to a brief.

The first ten weeks of the course are focused on skills workshops, learning different creative practices, skills and techniques informed by research. The second part of the course, students will be responding to a creative brief and using the techniques and skills they have learnt to create a visual portfolio of work and knowledge.

What do I need to join (Entry Requirements)

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the start of the academic year.

No previous experience is required, all we ask is that students have an Interest in creativity, art and design, and be willing to explore different materials and methods.

Additional information
Under the Local Flexibility offer, adults aged 19 and over may be eligible to access this course for free if they earn below a specified threshold, which is currently £25,000. Other qualifying criteria, such as being unemployed, may also apply. Additional eligibility criteria may apply.
