Drawing from her extensive career in the international fashion and interiors market, Jocasta shares her unique approach to textile design in a hands-on workshop that celebrates exploration, individuality, and creative thinking. Course content

You will learn to think like a designer, using drawing, mark-making, and observation to develop your own visual language. The course covers key elements of design such as pattern, texture, colour, scale, and balance.

Through weekly sessions, you will explore and combine a variety of printing techniques, including:

  • Silk Screen Printing
  • Sublimation Printing
  • Block Printing
  • Mono Printing

You’ll be encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and discover your personal style while building a collection of printed samples and design ideas. The course provides a space to reflect, play, and push your practice in a supportive and dynamic environment.

How is the course delivered and assessed?
The course is delivered through studio-based sessions filled with demonstrations, practical exercises, and one-to-one support. You will develop your ideas week by week, with the freedom to follow your own creative path. There is no formal assessment, progress is evaluated through your engagement, experimentation, and the development of your personal portfolio of printed textiles.
About the tutor
Jocasta Bullock is a practicing textile designer with over two decades of experience in fashion and interiors. A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art and Central Saint Martins, she began her career in Paris before returning to the UK to work with IWS trend forecasting and establish her own studio. Her designs have been sold to high-profile brands including Louis Vuitton, Donna Karan, and Nike. She has also taught on the degree course at UWE and now works from her studio at the Miserden Estate.

This course is open to all—whether you're new to textile design or looking to reignite your creative process. A passion for making and an openness to experiment are the only essentials.

Additional information
No previous experience required. Cotton calico fabric is provided but students will be invited to bring in materials of interest or and materials to print through and with. This is a good time to raid that fabric stash! You may also bring your preferred painting /drawing mediums.
