About the course

New for 2024/25, we are delighted to introduce this new fully online Access to HE course in Health Science Professions.  This 1-year course will equip you with all the academic and study skills necessary to progress onto university degrees in a range of Health Science Professions, such as all types of nursing, midwifery, paramedic science, and many other health care careers.

You will study modules in Biology, Health, Psychology and Sociology, helping to prepare you for study at University level.

Being fully remote, this course allows you the flexibility to learn in your own time, working independently at your own pace, but with regular access to a designated tutor for continual advice and guidance, and with access to all SGS facilities on site such as library resources, wellbeing support and learning support if needed. All assignments are completed from home and submitted via our new online learning platform.

If you want to achieve a qualification for entry to university, but cannot currently commit to a regular timetable, or live at a distance from college, then this is the course for you!

How is the course delivered and assessed?

The online delivery is through an online learning platform, which allows learners to achieve a recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma from home. Learners are at the centre of their learning journey and you will receive full support and guidance on making the most out of the online platform.

The platform contains all course materials, assessments and interactive content which are mapped to your specific regulated diploma through a Virtual Learning Environment. Learners are able to track their progress through the interactive dashboard, communicate with their peers and tutors, view study materials, resources, eBooks, assignments and feedback.

Learning is assessed in a variety of methods to prepare you to study at university. These may include essays, report writing, academic posters, and presentations.

You must achieve 60 credits at Level 3 to be awarded the Access to HE Diploma:
