Tuition Fees

16-18

Between the ages of 16-18 you do not need to pay tuition or exam fees for your course.

19-23

If you are between the ages of 19 and 23 and have not achieved a full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification before, then you may be entitled to a Legal Entitlement to cover the cost of your tuition, exam and material fees.

19+ (English or Maths Course etc.)

If you are 19 or over and taking an English or Maths course up to an including Level 2, and have not previously achieved a GCSE Grade A* to C or grade 4 or higher, then you may be entitled to a Legal Entitlement to cover the cost of your tuition, exam and material fees.

19+ (Level 2 Course or Below etc.)

If you are aged 19 or over and studying a level 2 course or below, you may be entitled to a Low Income/Benefit Waiver. If awarded, this Waiver will cover your tuition, exam and material fees.

19+ (Level 3 Course or Above etc.)

If you are aged 19 or over and studying on a level 3 course or above, and the Level 3 Legal Entitlement does not apply, you will need to pay the full cost of the course. You may however be eligible to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the tuition fees.

Please make arrangements to pay your course fee costs at the time of enrolment. Payment is due prior to the start of your course. The option to pay via an instalment plan is available if required. Please contact the College directly for the most up to date course fees – these may be subject to change.

Summary

With the growing challenge of sedentary populations and a collaborative strategy, across the country and world-wide to promote an active nation, this contemporary degree has been designed to study the sociocultural andpractical impact; developing knowledgeable practitioners to promote physical education, fitness and health-related behaviours within society. You will be fully integrated within our sports departments, with the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with peers, lecturers and high-performance athletes, amid excellent facilities. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to develop teaching abilities, knowledge and experience of curriculum activities, together with enhanced coaching and fitness practitioner skills. The course will provide you with a contextualised underpinning of physical education and fitness covering practical and theoretical elements to give a broad, yet applied, experience. You will examine the theory and practice of physical education, sport and coaching science across the education, leisure and community sectors. Integral to the study programme, engagement in real-world experience will enable students to apply theory to practice, with opportunities to conduct work placement and research in schools and sporting environments within the local community. With SGS’s excellent reputation for sporting facilities, students will study in a supportive and friendly environment, with similarly excellent learning support and specialist facilities. Study areas: • Physical Education and Fitness in Society • Leadership, Motivational Approaches and Practice • Introduction to Sport Performance • Introduction to Sport Psychology • Exercise Fundamentals for Fitness • Applied Exercise and Fitness Design • Applied Teaching and Coaching in Physical Education

What do I need to join?

56 UCAS points required from A levels or BTEC Level 3. These UCAS points must have a significant contribution from a Sport, Sport and Exercise Science or Physical Education pathway. Students should also have GCSE English, Maths and Science at grade C or above.
