Summary

The BSc (Hons) Level 6 Top-up in Zoological Management and Conservation aims to develop advanced practitioners in the field of animal collection management for conservation. A strong focus is given to the role collections play in conservation activities e.g. conservation translocations and conservation communications.

Utilising industry specialists and trips to field sites and collections, you will learn to critically evaluate a variety of conservation projects and display advanced knowledge of the role of ex situ animal collection staff and conservation scientists. The course also covers the role communication plays in zoological collections as both a tool for engaging visitors and spreading conservation messages. You will be given the opportunity to undertake an independent research project supporting key skill development in the areas of critical analyses and data manipulation. The course offers a natural progression on from our FdSc Zoological Management but also offers a specialised route for external students, who, after completing an FdSc elsewhere, have a particular interest in the conservation role of animal collections.
