Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Summary

The popular Business and Management HND is designed to help you develop the wide range of personal skills that employers require. If you are already working, gaining these skills on the part-time HNC/D should enable you to make an immediate contribution to your current role. The course will provide you with an extensive overview of practical business skills, which will give you a strong foundation of knowledge upon which to build a successful career. Upon completion of the HND, you will understand and be familiar with evolving concepts, theories and techniques in business and management. You’ll also understand how they can be successfully applied to real business situations. You will have developed personal skills, including being able to organise and prioritise your workload, and enhance your leadership abilities and self-confidence. Obtaining this range of assets provides an entry route into a broad range of business careers, and will give you an advantage in a competitive job market and for your future career development. The course will be delivered using a blend of teaching and learning methods and will include lectures, group activities, written tasks, personal research and tutorials. You will complete eight units throughout the year, with each unit being assessed by assignments and/or oral presentations; these will be graded on a pass, merit and distinction basis. The course assignments will assess your knowledge and ability to demonstrate analytical and independent research, apply business theory and evaluate decisions in a real business context. Support will be offered by lecturers in preparation for assessment. Aged 18 and above, with a guideline of 48 points required from qualifications and relevant A-Levels or BTEC equivalent.
