This qualification is aimed at practicing or aspiring managers who will supervise or manage a team to achieve clearly defined outcomes. They will set and monitor goals and objectives by providing instructions, direction and guidance. Day to day operational and project activities are a key part of their role.
The certificate provides a broader knowledge of skills to help you be more effective in specific management areas, with increased focus on the areas that are most appropriate to your role and organisation.
During the course you will learn the following:
- Understanding the role and responsibilities of a team leader
- Understanding a range of leadership styles, their benefits and potential impact on the individuals and performance
- Understanding leadership qualities and review own leadership qualities and potential
- Know how to communicate the organisation's vision and strategy to the team
- Know how to motivate and develop the team
The two units of this course are;
CMI 301 – Principles of Management and Leadership: Being equipped with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to manage and lead effectively are essential if an individual and their organisation are to succeed. This unit has been designed for learners who want to develop or sharpen their professional edge and enhance personal effectiveness. This unit focuses on the ways in which an organisation operates. The application of management and leadership approaches and how these can positively impact your ability to lead, improve performance and support your team, customers and colleagues.
CMI 302 – Managing a Team to Achieve Results: The ability to manage teams, which are able to communicate effectively and overcome barriers to achievement is a critical skill for any manager. High performing cohesive teams are created in an environment where there is a collective understanding of values, goals and objectives. This unit has been developed to support managers in understanding the nature of teams in the workplace, and how these can be managed to achieve results.
How will I learn?
With this course we have brought the classroom to you and created an interactive online learning environment. These sessions are never pre-recorded and like in a classroom you will have a teacher and other students interacting with you live on set teaching dates. Allowing you to ask questions and gain skills all without leaving your desk.
This qualification is delivered through a series of workshops, you will be expected to attend all workshops and induction lessons which are listed below.
Induction: 15th March 10:00am
Unit 301: 23rd March 09:30 - 17:00 plus a 1:1 tutorial with trainer
Unit 302: 20th April 09:30 - 17:00 plus a 1:1 tutorial with trainer

On successful completion of a Level 3 Qualification in Principles of Management and Leadership, a number of progression opportunities become available. Progression routes include enhancement of your professional status, progress to other qualifications at the next level (e.g. from Level 3 Certificate to Level 4 or 5 Certificate) and options to apply to be a Chartered Manager.
