Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Summary

AAT is the UK’s leading qualification and membership body for accounting and finance staff, with over 130,000 members in more than 100 countries worldwide. AAT qualifications provide Accounting Technician status. Accounting Technicians work at all levels of finance, from accounts clerks to finance directors.

This is a broad ranging practical course showing you how to prepare the accounts and VAT returns for a sole trader or partnership You will also learn how to create the management accounts to improve the performance of a business. Finally, we will teach you the ethics required to be an accountant and how to use Excel to create accounts and reports as you would do in a real-life situation.

Entry Requirements

Candidates will normally have successfully achieved the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or Bookkeeping prior to enrolling and also require a level 2 in Maths & English (A to C Grade GCSE or equivalent). The course is also open to others who can demonstrate having industry experience, prior bookkeeping experience or higher qualifications through a successful interview and assessment. Please visit one of our AAT Open Evenings which are held at various times throughout the year.

You will need to register with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) at a cost of £48.00, plus annual student membership of £99 (2021/22 rate). All exam fees (first attempt only) are included in the cost of your course. Textbooks are ordered separately with a 35% discount – cost £109. Details on all of the above will be discussed during enrolment.
