Is there a hidden writer inside you?
Would you like to write creatively but don’t know how to start? Or perhaps develop your existing experience, try new styles, grow in confidence and have some fun along the way?
On this course we will explore different forms of creative writing such as poetry and flash fiction, drawing inspiration from varied sources such as the natural world and local history.
For example, we will focus on using items found outdoors (such as an interesting leaf, pebble, shell) as well as historical objects from the nearby Museum in The Park as a springboard for writing creatively.
We will examine different genres, techniques, ways of getting started and examples by diverse writers and poets.
Sessions will be supportive, informal and collaborative with the opportunity to share ideas and learn from eachother.
How will I learn?
This course is a live online virtual classroom with the opportunity to meet up with your fellow students on weeks 5 and 10 at the Stroud Campus and discuss your writing face-to-face and take a walk around the local area for inspiration. The campus is a 10 minute walk from Stroud train station.
Should you be unable to attend the face-to-face sessions, you may be given a task to do in your local area.
