Summary

Today approximately half a million people are employed in the security sector and the industry contributes over £5 Billion to the UK economy. This rewarding industry requires key skills to respond to situations with personal discipline, discretion and integrity.

Why not join our Security UpSkillED course that on completion allows you to apply for your SIA licence and work within the sector. This course is also fully-funded meaning you will have no fees to pay for attending and is delivered throughout Bristol within one of our community venues. At the end of the course you will have a guaranteed interview with a relevant local employer.

Qualifications gained at the end of this course are:

• NCFE Level 1 Award in Interpersonal Skills 
• NCFE Certificate in Equality and Diversity Level 2
• Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry L2

The SIA Security Guarding course consists of 3 modules:

• Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry
• Principles of Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry
• Application of Conflict Management in the Private Security Industry

Day 1 of this section you will study Emergency First Aid at Work which is in addition to the 3 modules listed.

The qualification allows people to work as a security officer/guard in various places including shops, building sites, reception areas and holiday parks.

You will develop by:

• Achieving relevant qualifications to help you succeed
• Receiving careers guidance from our dedicated team
• Learning effective interview techniques from local employers within the sector
• Receiving advice and guidance from local employers within the sector
• Having the opportunity of a guaranteed interview with local employers within the sector

Our partnership for our UpSkillED security courses is with Total Security Services (TSS). TSS are the UK's largest privately-owned security company, providing national coverage and employ over 3000 licensed security officers. TSS will be delivering an inspirational talk, while also supporting our learners with sessions on interview techniques and returning to offer guaranteed interviews to learners attending the course.

How will I learn?

UpskillED courses are specifically aimed at those who wish to gain recognised qualifications and knowledge of their chosen industry. During these courses you will learn all the important transferable skills as well as sector specific training, all of which will help you gain employment and is delivered using engaging classroom activities, workbooks and discussion groups. Industry expert talks are also provided by local employers to give you an insight into the industry and inspire you to consider the sector as a career choice.

This course is located at The Galleries in Bristol City Centre. It is a short walk from Bristol, Temple Meads Train Station or you can get a variety of Bus’ including the 75, M1, T1 and 73.

Entry Requirements

You will be asked to complete a short initial literacy assessment prior to starting, as learners will be required to have basic literacy skills (Level 1) to successfully complete this course.
