Summary

A career in Early Years and Childcare is a chance to support young children as they learn, develop and prepare for school. It can be a rewarding career path and is full of variety.

Why not join our Early Years UpSkillED course aimed at providing you the skills to grow with confidence and lay the foundations for your career path into the sector. This course is also
fully-funded meaning you will have no fees to pay for attending this course and is delivered throughout Bristol within one of our community venues. At the end of the course you will have a guaranteed interview with a relevant local employer.

Qualifications gained at the end of this course are:

  • CACHE Award Level 1 in Early Years Setting (Delivered Online)
  • NCFE Interpersonal Skills Level 1 (Delivered Online)
  • NCFE Certificate in Equality and Diversity Level 2 (Independent Studying)
  • Paediatric First Aid Level 3 (Delivered In Class At A Later Date Due To Covid-19)

You will develop by:

  • Receiving careers guidance from our dedicated team
  • Learning effective interview techniques from local employers within the sector

Our partnership for our UpSkillED Early Years courses is with Snapdragons Nursery. Snapdragons is a family run business with nurseries throughout Bristol, Bath and Wiltshire. Snapdragons will be delivering an inspirational talk, while also supporting our learners with sessions on interview techniques and also returning to offer guaranteed interviews to learners attending the course.

The inspirational talk for this course is being delivered by National Nursery Award 2020 nominee Anna Gent. Anna has worked in the sector for the last 13 years, having trained at Norland College (Bath) and been a private homes nanny up until 2015. Anna is now the Quality and Training Manager for Snapdragons Nurseries LTD and will be providing you with an inspiring insight into the sector.

How will I learn?

UpskillED courses are specifically aimed at those who wish to gain recognised qualifications and knowledge of their chosen industry. Due to the Prime Minister's announcement we have brought the classroom to you and created an interactive online learning environment. These sessions are never pre-recorded and like in a classroom you will have a teacher and other students interacting with you live on set teaching dates. Allowing you to ask questions and gain skills all without leaving your desk.

During these courses you will learn all the important transferable skills as well as sector specific training, all of which will help you gain employment and is delivered using engaging classroom activities, workbooks and discussion groups. Industry expert talks are also provided by local employers to give you an insight into the industry and inspire you to consider the sector as a career choice.

This course is made up of different sessions within its course length. On the course start date session you will be provided with a structured timetable. If you have any questions regarding dates you need to be available please email.

You may be asked to complete a short initial literacy assessment prior to starting, as learners will be required to have basic literacy skills (level 1) to successfully complete this course.

Additional Information

IMPORTANT INFORMATION DUE TO THE IMPACT OF COVID-19
We have been working hard to ensure we offer a safe learning experience and have followed all Government guidelines to enable us to deliver our UpSkillED courses safely. Full PPE will be provided but we do ask you to bring your own face mask, as this will be needed when you enter the building.

We will endeavour to ensure course information, including delivery methods, is updated when changes are having to be made.
