Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid

SGS College is delighted to offer the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid in collaboration with AMP Training Solutions Ltd. This course is primarily aimed at the Early Years workforce, which is why it’s delivered on a Saturday. However, it is also beneficial for anyone who cares for children and wants to know what to do in a first aid incident.

When: Saturday, 30th November 2024 and Saturday, 7th December 2024 (you need to be able to attend both sessions)

Introduction

The Paediatric First Aid qualification aims to provide learners with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to manage a range of paediatric first aid situations. This qualification is designed for individuals who work or plan to work in a childcare setting, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to handle emergencies effectively. The 12-hour course covers various skills, including but not limited to:

First aid and resuscitation procedures for children and infants
Recognising and managing childhood medical conditions
Providing emergency treatment until professional medical services arrive

Department for Education: Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Resuscitation Council (UK): Guidelines
Health and Social Care Board (NI): Childminding and Day Care for Children Under Age 12 Minimum Standards
Welsh Government: National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare for children up to the age of 12 years

What do I need to join

This qualification is perfect for: learners who are currently employed, or who wish to be employed in a childcare setting, including nursery nurses, pre-school teachers, teaching assistants and student teachers, parents and grandparents or anyone caring or responsible for the care of a child.

What can I do next

This Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid qualification enables learners to progress onto qualifications at the same level or above. It also allows industry professionals to maintain their continuous professional development and progress their careers. Upon successful completion of this qualification learners may wish to pass on the knowledge and skills they have acquired through training as a first aid tutor / assessor.
