This study programme includes the Level 3 Technical Certificate in Childcare and Education in Year 1 and the Teaching Diploma in Year 2. It enables learners to gain the knowledge and experience which will allow them to work with children from birth to five years.
How will I know how I am doing?
This course is assessed internally using a variety of methods and externally through a 20-hour controlled assessment. Learners are also assessed through observations in placement.
What do I need to join?
5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English, a good reference from an early years setting and an academic establishment. You will also need a clear DBS certificate.
Learners will partake in Forest School-type activities. There will also be guest speakers. Agencies and setting managers advertise directly to the College and offer training on writing CVs and interviewing techniques.
Learners will spend two days a week in placement and three block weeks, for a total of 750 hours by the end of their second year. Placement will be in a variety of early years and school settings. This is required to achieve the qualification.
What can I do next?
Upon achievement of the Technical Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, it is intended that learners will be able to access higher education or enter the workforce as early years educators.
