Summary

This Level 2 qualification provides the opportunity to gain a vocational qualification that gives an introduction to child development and care. It includes the knowledge and understanding of child development and well-being necessary for working with children aged 0-5 years in a variety of settings - pre-schools, nurseries, playgroups, and their own home. Unit 1: An introduction to working with children aged 0-5 years (Learning styles and study skills) Unit 2: Development and wellbeing 0-5 years (Patterns of development) Unit 3: Child Care and Development – (types of settings, responsibilities, routines and meeting needs/inclusive practice, learning style and study skills) This Level 2 course is based at our Stroud campus in the centre of Gloucestershire, surrounded by the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The campus is a short walk from Stroud train station and easily accessible by bus.

What can I do next?

Students can progress onto several subsequent courses within the Child Development area. Most of these will involve a significant amount of time in childcare settings and so are delivered through an FE College with work-based placements.
