Summary
Collage is a fun and accessible medium that allows you to create amazing artwork through the simple process of cutting and arranging material on to a supporting surface. The course offers a gentle introduction to collage in which you will be guided through collage techniques including photomontage and decollage. You will be encouraged to experiment and play with various materials to create exciting compositions based on still life, found imagery or abstract forms. Exploring pattern, colour and surface and discovering collage as a way to be mindful through this new way of thinking and learning through making. Learning outcomes: • Create work using a variety of collage techniques including decollage and photomontage. • Create mixed media work using both found and drawn elements. • Learn basic mono-print. • Incorporate a more explorative open-minded approach to your own artistic practice. • Explore artists with collage and techniques used. Tutor Biography Jack Studied art at the Royal Academy School of art and has over 20 years’ experience as a practising artist. He is also a qualified teacher with experience teaching learners from various backgrounds and abilities. His teaching specialisms include collage, watercolour and acrylic techniques and drawing. His work explores landscape and the figure. Working from photographs his work is based on both personal and found imagery. Currently he is working on a body of work that is influenced by the south west landscape of his childhood and where he now lives. He has shown his work both in The UK and internationally. Notable exhibitions have included a recent solo show at the Agency Gallery London, group shows at Durden and Ray in Los Angeles and Kunstalboratorium Vestfossen , Norway. He has been included in New Contemporaries and John Moore painting prize. His work is in various private collections. This course will be run at The Parish Centre, Broadwell, Dursley, Gloucestershire, GL11 4JE
