How will I know how I am doing?
To gain this qualification, learners must successfully complete all the mandatory assessments: • Theory exam • Synoptic assignment • Employer involvement requirement
What do I need to join?
A L2 plumbing qualification and GCSE grade 4 (C) in English, Maths and Science.
Maths & English
A key requirement for future progression and employment is a good understanding and application of knowledge and skills in both English and maths. Learners who are enrolled on this programme will be provided with opportunities to use the skills gained through achieving GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths prior to joining.
Employability
At SGS, we aim to provide learners with the skills required in order to progress into further study and training or employment upon completion. Key attributes required by employers are that individuals be enthusiastic, motivated, presentable (in some instances in company uniform), organised, articulate, able to think 'outside the box', business-like and enterprising, and that they have a 'can-do' attitude. At SGS, we work with you on all these areas throughout the duration of your programme of study, and your tutor(s) will discuss progress and any areas for development.
Work Experience
As part of their overall programme of study, learners will be required to undertake a period of work placement related to the field of employment they wish to enter. Our Work Placement Team will assist in gaining a placement and ensure they are on track to successfully achieve, whilst liaising with course tutors to ensure that opportunities to practice and develop employability skills are available at college.
What can I do next?
Learners may wish to gain an apprenticeship, undertake further training and development or secure employment within the industry.
