How will I know how I am doing?

Targets will be set and agreed with your tutor; you will receive regular feedback and one-to-one reviews to ensure that you are on track to achieve your goals. Your practical work will also be assessed by your tutor and your portfolio will be assessed by our internal verification team. Parents can also monitor progress through the Pro Monitor portal.

What do I need to join?

A Diploma Level 2 in Carpentry Joinery or a suitable level of previous experience, and grade 4 (C) in Maths and English.

Maths & English

Learners who have not achieved grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English will be given additional support to improve these skills.

Employability

In conjunction with obtaining a trade qualification and practical experience, learners will also develop other skills, such as interview techniques and CV preparation, to prepare them for the world of work.

Work Experience

All courses include opportunities for learners to experience working in a construction environment – this may be with employers, or as part of a community project or a project within the College campus. This gives learners the opportunity to develop their skills in their chosen trade and will assist with progression choices.

What can I do next?

After successful completion, you can progress onto an apprenticeship or a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations.
