Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Summary

This is a one-year course for candidates who work or want to work in the plumbing sector. You will learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in plumbing.

You will cover the following skills:

  • Health and safety
  • Scientific principles of plumbing
  • Hot and cold water
  • Electrical installation
  • Heating systems

How will I learn?

Our dedicated construction department offer a hands-on learning environment, allowing learners to engage and develop skills within a construction site style setting. All courses are delivered by passionate and dedicated staff with a qualified trade background. All the material and equipment you will use matches the tools available on construction sites.

This course is based at our Filton campus, located in South Gloucestershire which is easily accessible from the city of Bristol by train (Bristol Parkway / Bristol Abbey Wood) and bus.

Entry Requirements

As well as having a keen interest in the subject area, learners will need to possess GCSE grade 3 in both English and Maths. You will also need to be committed, punctual and demonstrate an enthusiam for learning.

While also taking on new ideas and skills to help you reach your full protential within the trade. Ideally, learners will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the trade and complete a skills assessment and details about this will be provided.

If you successfully gain a place on this exciting construction course you will be expected to wear safety boots on site at all times, these must have steel toe caps and meet regulations.
