This is a 1-year course for candidates who work or want to work in the bricklaying sector. You will learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in bricklaying. You will cover the following skills: • Safe working practices • Information, quantities and communicating • Building methods and construction • Technology • Setting out • Thin joint masonry • Solid walling • Isolated and attached piers • Cavity walling The course runs on a Monday and Tuesday. The total cost of the course is £1750.
What do I need to join?
You will have 2 GCSEs at grade 3 or above in Maths and English.
How will I know how I am doing?
Targets will be set and agreed with your tutor throughout the year and you will receive regular feedback and one-to-one progress reviews with your tutor to ensure that you are on track to achieve your goals. Your practical skills will be assessed through portfolio-based assessments. You will also take a multiple-choice theory exam.
What can I do next?
After successful completion, you can progress into employment or onto a Level 2 NVQ.Apply for this course
