Summary

This programme is designed for individuals seeking to develop bricklaying skills and pursue a career in the construction industry. You will gain expertise in constructing structures, managing and storing materials, preparing bricklaying materials, working collaboratively within a team, and maintaining safety standards on construction sites.

What do I need to join?

In addition to having a strong interest in the subject area, you need to have at least a GCSE grade 2 in both English and Maths. You should be committed, punctual and enthusiastic about learning and adopting new ideas and skills. A solid understanding and application of English and Maths are essential for future progression and employment. As part of your programme, you will also be enrolled on either Functional Skills or GCSE courses in English and Maths, with the goal of achieving a grade 4 in both subjects.

How will I learn?

A variety of assessment methods will be used to track your progress from the beginning of the programme and against your expected outcomes and target grade. These assessments may include practical tasks, written assignments, performance reviews, presentations and discussions. Your progress will be regularly reviewed and discussed with your tutor and other delivery staff on the programme.

Work Experience

As part of your programme, you will need to complete a work placement in your chosen field of employment. Our Work Placement team will support you in securing a placement and monitor your progress to ensure you're meeting your goals. They will also coordinate with your course tutors to make sure you have the chance to develop essential employability skills while at College.

What can I do next?

Upon successfully completing this course, you can move on to a Level 2 course in a related discipline or opt for an apprenticeship to gain practical experience and further enhance your skills. Employers typically look for at least a Level 2 NVQ or an equivalent apprenticeship. This course provides a strong foundation for building a career in the construction industry.
