About the course
This programme is designed for individuals seeking to develop bricklaying skills and pursue a career in the construction industry. You will gain expertise in constructing structures, managing and storing materials, preparing bricklaying materials, working collaboratively within a team, and maintaining safety standards on construction sites.
Course content
The course covers essential skills in blocklaying and bricklaying, including cavity walling tasks. You will also learn how to contribute to the setting out and construction of masonry structures up to the damp proof course.
What do I need to join
In addition to having a strong interest in the subject area, you need to have at least a GCSE grade 2 in both English and Maths. You should be committed, punctual and enthusiastic about learning and adopting new ideas and skills.
A solid understanding and application of English and Maths are essential for future progression and employment. As part of your programme, you will also be enrolled on either Functional Skills or GCSE courses in English and Maths, with the goal of achieving a grade 4 in both subjects.
What can I do next
Upon successfully completing this course, you can move on to a Level 2 course in a related discipline or opt for an apprenticeship to gain practical experience and further enhance your skills.
