information
Summary
Most of us are missing our daily commutes, lunchtime walks and weekend days out and time spent inside has reduced the sunlight our bodies crave. This lack of natural exposure to sunlight during the day affects the quality our sleep, that and the recent lockdown which has seen so many worried about health, job security and family equals a melting pot of anxiety, insomnia or disrupted sleep patterns.
Combining 2 incredible Yoga practises – Yin and Nidra, this free course will calm you down, enabling you to start a new routine before bed and reduce restlessness with the goal of achieving a more deeper and refreshing sleep.
You will start the session with Yin Yoga, this targets your deep tissues and joints. Holding the poses for slightly longer and moving through the poses slowly and with control. This will calm and balance the mind, allowing your body to shift its energy from daytime to preparation for night time.
The second part of the session will be Yoga Nidra. This practise slows the mind as you enter into a sleep like state. This part of the class will start by you becoming aware of your physical self and mindfully breathing to trigger the relaxation response in your body.
So if you are currently experiencing increased stress or anxiety in your daily life, this course may help you fall asleep—and stay asleep—at night.
What do I need to join?
You will need a Yoga mat to join this course, props may also be used. It is also advisable to have something warm to put on for the Yoga Nidra - hoodie/blanket/socks and maybe an eye covering.
Note:
- If you do not have a yoga strap, you can use a belt
- If you do not have a Yoga block, you can use a hardback book
