Are you a secret poet or wish you were or would you like to develop your existing experience, try new styles, grow in confidence – and have some fun along the way! Then this FREE course is an ideal way to explore poetry.
It is equally suitable for aspiring poets on the initial rung of their journey, or even established amateur poets who are working towards expanding their written word.
This FREE 4-week course will be inspired by natural objects, and objects which have personal meaning, as inspiration for poems or short pieces of descriptive writing.
During the course, you will focus on using objects found outdoors: an interesting leaf, pebble, shell, or photos taken outdoors: a sunset, a tree, shadow on a wall, as a springboard for creativity. Your final session will turn your attention to inspiration indoors: objects or photos, with personal significance, to form the basis for a piece of writing.
You will examine different genres of poetry, techniques, ways of getting
started and examples by different poets. There are so many different types of
poetry so you will also be looking at Haiku, Prose Poetry and 'Found' Poetry.
Sessions will be supportive, informal and collaborative, with opportunity to share ideas and learn from each other.
