Functional Skills are the fundamental skills that you need for your working and personal lives. You can study for the qualifications in practical ways and apply core skills to real-life situations.
On this course, you will brush up your skills and cover topics including working with numbers, understanding fractions, decimals and percentages, working with metric measures and understanding graphs, charts and data.
These courses give you the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification in maths in a welcoming and safe environment.
The course requires a commitment of 2 hours per week and you will be expected to work within an online learning environment.
How will I learn?
This course is an online virtual learning course. This allows us to bring the classroom to you and create an interactice online learning environment. With the majority of sessions being live and like in a classroom you will have a teacher and other students interacting with you live on set teaching dates. Allowing you to ask questions and gain skills all without leaving your desk.

A diagnostic assessment will be carried out, in a controlled environment, to check your current level of understanding in this subject.
You will take past assessments during the course to enable you to experience the papers you will sit formally. Assessments will be carried out through exam.
In addition, speaking, listening and communication, controlled discussion and presentation assessments take place throughout the year, which are set and assessed by your tutor.
In order to achieve the Functional Skills qualification you must achieve a pass in all components: Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening.
On successful completion of this course and qualification, you will be awarded a certificate.
