Summary

This beginners’ course will teach you the step by step process of drafting your own clothes patterns. You will learn to take measurements, alter the size and shape of a pattern and add your own design details e.g. collars, pockets, pleats etc.

Through a series of demonstrations and with one to one guidance you will then construct your design (in calico, provided or fabric, sourced by you) and learn to fit and make alterations and amendments to your pattern.

You will go away with a garment, final paper pattern, samples and handouts as well as lots more knowledge and confidence!

What do I need to join?

The course is great for beginners but also experienced home sewers who want to build on their knowledge and learn industry standards to refine and consolidate their skills.

A folder or document wallet is useful to keep handouts in. You may want to bring some paper to take notes during demonstrations. If you want to make garments for someone else, bring their measurements.

Calico will be provided for you, otherwise please source your own material.

How will I learn?

Through a series of demonstrations and with one to one guidance from your tutor you will construct your design and learn to fit and make alterations and amendments to your pattern.
