Summary
On this course you will learn how to dye fabrics using different plants and techniques. As a final outcome, you will choose your favourite technique to dye a cotton scarf using natural products.
Natural dyeing is an ancient sustainable craft that we can help preserve. This technique allows you to collaborate with nature and has a meditative approach. This course is an introduction to extracting dyes from natural materials like plants, flowers, food waste etc to create beautiful products.
Anurita Chandola is a senior fashion and textiles artist based in Bristol who
has worked internationally with renowned brands. Anurita’s expertise lies in
sustainable fashion, product and material innovation, and in designing solutions
based on reducing waste in the fashion industry. She is a graduate from the
Royal College of Art, where she focused on developing proficiency in the
independent learning methods and practices of contemporary art and design.
How will I learn?
You will learn by observing demonstrations, group discussions, and by exploring new techniques with expert support. You will learn a great deal by experimenting and recording your own progress. Your tutor will always check your progress and help you with technical solutions.
