Using a range of techniques and equipment you will have the opportunity to record your own and other instruments in ways that can be used outside a professional studio. You will also begin developing production skills to build a backing track to support your playing. Over the duration of the course, you will collaborate with other musicians to create a track, writing, recording, and mixing an end product. Each session will include demonstrations as well as hands on time to practice recording and try the different techniques. Tutor Biography: Howard Williams is a sound engineer and musician bringing a variety of skills including live sound, performance, recording and composition. Currently based in Gloucester. he has been working in the music industry for over 35 years. Past clients have included The London Community Gospel Choir, Daniel and, Natasha Beddingfield and more locally Gloucester Cathedral, The Raga babas and community musician George Moorey. Howard’s live playing credits as a session musician include keyboards for Caleb Quayle and Danny Daniels. He runs his own studio as well as having recorded at various studios including Rock-field, Real world. His experience is across many genres in live sound and recording. He has a creative and fun approach to composition and production coupled with a first class BA Hons in music production. This allows him to provide students with a broad range of music skills and knowledge.
How will I learn?
Each session will include demonstrations as well as hands on time to practice recording and try the different techniques, by the tutor Howard Williams.
The course is aimed at students who already have some skill playing a musical instrument and want to develop skills in recording.
