Summary
Glass fusing is an immediate and popular technique for melting glass. Learn the basics of glass fusing to make either a decorative bowl or platter and four coasters.
You will have time to plan and make your project, as well as experiment with different fusing techniques using frits, stringers, inclusions, oxides and high firing enamels. You will learn about glass compatibility and different firing cycles for fusing and slumping glass into moulds. A fun, easy technique suitable for beginners and anyone who wants to further develop their creative skills in glass.
Ruth Adams has taught fired stained-glass painting at Central Saint Martins, where she previously completed her postgraduate studies in glass with distinction. She taught stained glass for ten years at the City Literary Institute in Central London. Ruth relocated to Stroud, where she works as a practicing artist, and she set up the glass department within the Arts School at Stroud College. She is a respected educator within this field, with an enormous amount of experience and enthusiasm to help you engage with this fantastic subject.
Your fee includes the finest materials to make test samples, a bowl or platter and four coasters. There is a wonderful range of beautiful fusing glass for you to use on your course, as well fusing sundries, frits, stringers, noodles, oxides and metals. If you want to make larger work, you may choose to buy some additional fusing materials from a supplier or the tutor.
