Summary

Please note we are currently organising new September start dates for this interactive online course. You can still apply today and we will be in touch with start dates as soon as possible.

Live Online Interactive Learning Webinars
With this course we have brought the classroom to you and created an interactive online learning environment. These sessions are never pre-recorded and like in a classroom you will have a teacher and other students interacting with you live on set teaching dates. Allowing you to ask questions and gain skills all without leaving your desk. For more information on how these classes work please email [email protected].

In this course, you will be introduced to drawing methods and techniques for you to develop and explore in your own way. Experimental approaches are welcomed. We will explore different ways of mark making using tools and applying them to create unique marks. We will draw from objects to create textural, patterned and abstracted drawings as well as using sound, moving image, life and the space around you as inspiration for drawing.

The aim of the course is to introduce you to a wide range of drawing methods, in the hope that you come closer to finding your personal drawing style.

How will I know how I am doing?

You will receive support and feedback from your Tutor and at the end of the course you will receive a certificate.

What do I need to join?

This course is set up to need a minimal amount of art materials. You will need access to a laptop or computer to join the webinars and tutorials. You will need basic drawing materials such as paper and pencil/pen. Other materials would be advantageous such as charcoal, ink, brushes, paint and masking tape.

Enrolment is quick and easy:

  • Click on the enrolment button and fill in the short form
  • Await an access link to our online learning platform in Microsoft Teams

Please be aware  that if you have applied for more than one Creative Online Course, you will be enrolled on all the courses you have selected. We recommend spending a minimum of 3-4 hours per week on each course to fully complete your studies.

This qualification is only suitable for learners aged 19 or above.

How will I learn?

Weekly tasks will be set by your tutor Laura Edmunds as PDF documents. There is no wrong or right way to do this, and the tasks are designed as such. The tasks will feature a set of instructions and recommended resources as a starting point. Your tutor will also link to other artists to contextualise the task and expand your knowledge of artists drawing. It is key to maintain an open mind, and to see the potential in what you draw.

You will receive:

  • A tailored 12-week package with exciting and creative tasks.
  • Online tutorials with your tutor who will give you further support, advice and guidance.
  • Access to group chats and four webinars lead by your tutor giving you the opportunity to discuss your work and ideas with other students.

A career in art is diverse and can include work in graphic design, illustration, website design, teaching, museum studies and curating, set design, youth work, art therapy and photography, as well as work in the ceramics, textiles and fashion industries.
