This programme enables learners to combine leadership skills with a passion for sport and the outdoors. With theory-based units as well as practical activities, trips and a minimum of 36 hours of work experience, learners will be perfectly placed to pursue a career in leading sport and activity sessions. This course has been developed in consultation with employers to maximise employment opportunities.
Modules covered may include: leading sport safely and effectively, working in sport activity leadership, leading sport physical activity, coaching sport, developing skills for sport activity leadership, leading different groups, and delivering a sports event.
What do I need to join?
Learners will have 3 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English or Maths.
How will I know how I am doing?
Learners will be assigned a personal tutor, who, alongside other delivery staff on the programme, will monitor progress on the course in relation to work submission, attendance, behaviour and punctuality, as well as check progress against a learner's individual targets.
Maths & English
As part of the programme, and vital to future employment and progression, learners will undertake a maximum of six hours of maths and English each week.

What are my career options?
Learners who complete this qualification are eligible to join the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) as a Level 2 fitness instructor.
Employment opportunities as a fitness instructor exist in a variety of gym-based settings, including:

- Hotels and spas
