Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Summary

This exclusive offer is designed to provide Everyone Active members with the opportunity to upskill or start a new venture in the health and fitness industry as a Level 2 Gym Instructor from the comfort and convenience of your own gym! Upon completion, you will receive £50 back to your bank account and a further £50 if you refer a friend.

The Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing is designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to become a fitness instructor in a gym environment. Individuals who successfully complete the programme are able to gain access to both the CIMSPA Exercise and Fitness Directory as an affiliated member, as well as the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS).

Learners taking this qualification will study six units, including:

  • Anatomy and physiology for exercise
  • Maximising the customer experience in a gym environment
  • Supporting client health and wellbeing
  • Conducting client consolations and gym inductions
  • Planning and reviewing gym-based exercise programmes
  • Instructing and supervising gym-based exercise programmes

This qualification will provide you with a comprehensive insight into the skills and knowledge that you will require to not only work in the health and fitness sector, but to also take your own training to the next level. The choice of units offered across this Level 2 qualification gives you the opportunity to obtain a number of transferable skills that employers are seeking, including communication, customer service and health and safety. You will also learn more about the functions of the body and how to plan effective gym-based exercise programmes.

Employees entering this sector as a qualified Fitness Instructor can expect to earn between £14,000-£30,000* (Average yearly salary data taken from the nationalcareers.service.gov.uk)

How will I learn?

This course will be based at Everyone Active (Horfield) to provide easy access learning for you. Assessment days will take place at our brand-new state of the art gym based at our SGS WISE Campus in Stoke Gifford, roughly 10 minutes from Everyone Active (Horfield).

The course will be delivered face-to-face over an 8-week period, from 6:30-8:30pm. Once registered, you will receive online learning materials that need to be completed before the programme commences on 07.11.2022. The online learning materials will provide you with key underpinning knowledge preparing you for course delivery.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training.
