SGS College | Be Outstanding

Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

How will I learn?

This course is based at our dynamic and exciting WISE Campus in Stoke Gifford. Located within easy reach of the city of Bristol and moments away from Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbey Wood train stations.

The course is delivered in a one-week intensive block, providing the opportunity to proceed into industry once completed. 3 weeks before the start of the course, you will receive an induction video outlining course content for the week. Along with the induction pack, you will also receive an Anatomy and Physiology workbook with accompanying resources, which you will be required to complete prior to the commencement of the programme.

With this course we bring the classroom to you and have created an interactive online learning environment for the first 2 days. These sessions are never pre-recorded and like in a classroom, you will have a teacher and other students interacting with you live over the first 2 days of the course. This will allow you to ask questions and gain industry skills all without leaving your home.

Please also note that while we will deliver the theory of this course online, the practical elements of this course will be delivered face to face across the final 3 days, and attendance to these sessions at our WISE Campus are essential.

These courses typically run in October, February and Easter half-terms
