Summary
The Level 1 Certificate in Skills for Sport and Active Leisure is designed to provide you with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to develop your Walking Football performance.
The programme explores a range of modules including:
- Taking part in exercise and fitness
- Working in sport and active leisure and walking football
- Anatomy and physiology for walking football
- Planning a healthy diet
- Planning own fitness programmes
- Career planning
- Skills for creative thinkers
- Using and communicating data to enhance performance
You will develop an understanding of different training methods, how to improve performance, and the anatomy of a footballer. You will also learn about walking football specific nutrition and how to fuel your body for success. Learners will also use basic numeracy to assess and interpret data related to your performance.
How will I learn?
With this course we have brought the classroom to you and createed an interactice online learning environment. The sessions are never pre-recorded and like in a classroom you will have a teacher and other students interacting with you live on set teaching dates. This allows you to ask questions and gain skills all without leaving your desk. The course is delivered over a 6-week period.

Entry Requirements
This course has no entry requirements however you must be 19 or over and have access to a home computer that can connect to the internet. This will allow you to access our online learning platform.

What can I do next?
On completion of the programme, you will be invited to attend a Walking Football Performance Training Day at the SGS Wise Campus. You will have the opportunity to take part in trainng sessions with our football coaching team in our state-of-the-art failities, as well as workshops from our specialist Strength and Conditioning coaches, Sport Psychologists and Physiotherapy team.
Who will i be coached by?
The football sessions will be taken by the Head
of Male football David Hokaday, holding a English FA A License, David has
coached at U18 reserve/U23 and first team levels. While also working at top
level professional clubs including Watford, Southampton, Leeds Utd, Coventry
City, MK Dons and Forest Green Rovers. David also played professional football
for 20 years with over 650 senior appearances and 5 promotions (Blackpool,
Swindon Town, Hull City, Shrewsbury Town).

and training guidance by the FA at the time sessions are due to take
place.
