SGS College's Talented Athlete Support Scheme (TASS) helps athletes excel in both sports and academics through support in strength, conditioning, flexibility, and lifestyle.
The Talented Athlete Support Scheme (TASS) is a Sport England funded partnership between talented athletes, education institutions and national governing bodies of sport.
The TASS Dual Career scheme will help you as an athlete in education, aged 16-plus, to get the very best from your sporting and academic ventures without having to choose between the two. You will be entitled to academic flexibility, specialist workshops and support.
To apply for TASS at SGS College, you must be a talented athlete aged 16 and over, at the top of the Talent Pathway in your sport.
You must also be following a recognised education and/or training programme. You will also need to be a part of an SGS College Sport Academy or TEAMS. Athletes will be accepted onto TASS from a range of study options such as A levels, BTEC, foundation courses, degree programmes and apprenticeships.
Being a TASS athlete at SGS College has many benefits.
Your support package is likely to include strength and conditioning, lifestyle advice, physiotherapy, sport psychology and nutrition advice. These services are delivered by qualified practitioners based at your place of study.
We are also committed to providing you with academic flexibility. This means that you are able to compete at the highest sporting level and also have adequate time to complete your academic work to the highest possible level.
An agreement will be made between yourself, your parent/guardian, your tutor and the Dual Career Coordinator to ensure you have enough time to be a successful student-athlete at SGS College.
You will need to either represent your sport at a national level, be involved in an NGB talent pathway or have a professional club contract to qualify to be a TASS athlete.
