As part of South Gloucestershire and Stroud College’s programme of activity in the community, SGS Sport and its associated partner club, Bristol Academy Netball, have seen the successful launch of Tiny Netters.
The Tiny Netters programme introduces toddlers aged 18 months to 2.5 years, to the fundamentals of netball through play-oriented sessions. The sessions have been a huge success amongst the youngsters and their parents with 15 children participating in fun and active sessions.
Parent, Sophie Crocker commented:
“the sessions are super fun and really well organised. My daughter loved playing with the netballs, interacting with the other children and playing all the fun games.”
Coach Ali Chodkiewicz explains:
“the sessions are designed to introduce children to netball in a fun and playful way, encouraging them to participate in sport and start to lead active lives early on in their development. The sessions are not just about physical activity but also to build on other behaviours such as sharing with others too.
“We did a pilot during June and July and have had great feedback from parents. The classes will be taking a short break over the summer but a full timetable of sessions and new age groups will be available to attend from 12th September 2021 (Covid restrictions dependent). We hope many more parents and toddlers will enjoy the fun.”
