Support is here! SGS launches a new Home Tutoring Programme for maths and English

SGS College is delighted to announce the official launch of its Home Tutoring Programme for maths and English.

The 12-week programme, which is free of charge, is aimed at parents teaching their children from home due to current government guidelines.

The College is offering a comprehensive suite of resources to help parents to support their children to study from home, including bite-size exercises and live access with our very best teachers through weekly seminars.

Head of Academic Studies, Mark Anthony Jones said:

“As a community college we want to offer free and impartial support for everyone impacted by the outbreak of Covid-19. Let us help you to navigate your way through the educational minefield by delivering resources straight to you.”

Whist on the programme participants will be able to access a range of extra resources including; a package of support, advice and guidance, with over 30 hours of content and materials; access to a forum where parents can post questions to each other and specialist teachers; a wide range of downloadable e-books, plus much more.

Marcel Celtel, English teacher comments:

"These are very challenging times for everyone and as a parent myself, I understand just how difficult it can be to manage a busy life; the added pressure of home-schooling is something that none of us could have anticipated. I’m excited to be able to help parents, carers and guardians through this process and want you to understand that we are going to have to learn together. Mistakes may be made, but that’s all part of the fun. I look forward to seeing you online!"

Tom Hiatt, Maths teacher added:

“Studying maths can be quite daunting and teaching it can fill some people with dread. This programme is aimed at providing support to people of all abilities and will take you through some of the basic functions step by step. The secret is to master the basics and then practise, practise and practise some more. The maths team will be on hand to support, so please don't panic.”
