SGS College kick-start a week of Wellbeing activities in support of World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day 2020 is the most important one yet and the theme this year is ‘Mental Health for All‘.

As the psychological impacts of Covid-19 become clear, now more than ever it is vital that mental health support is available to everyone. SGS have been incredibly busy during this unprecedented time ensuring staff and learners are receiving the help and support they need.

SGS College is marking this year’s World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10th October with a programme of online talks, activities and workshops which will be running from Monday 12th to Friday 16th October. Activities include Yoga, Art Competition, Banana Bread Making and much more.

The week long campaign will offer opportunities, primarily online given the continuing pandemic, for all of us to do something life-affirming: as individuals, to take concrete actions in support of our own mental health, and to support friends and family who are struggling.

At SGS College we recognise that we have a responsibility to create an environment that promotes student and staff wellbeing and that proactively supports student and staff mental health. We will be encouraging and collecting student views on mental health and wellbeing by working with the Students’ Union and other student representative bodies and promoting the benefit that physical activity and sport has on mental wellbeing.
