Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Glow-up: Master the art of Makeup at SGS College

SGS College, Stroud Campus, are excited to be offering a new and innovative course for artists wishing to pursue a career in the Makeup industry.

Launching in September 2023, the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Mastering the Art of Makeup, is a specialist two-year qualification which will equip learners with the correct knowledge, understanding and skills required to be industry ready.

This pioneering course, will offer students the opportunity to collaborate with related industry students and experts, such as photographers, artists and fashion designers within the wider Art School.

Recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted, Stroud School of Art at SGS College is now the largest provider of vocational Art in the South West and is renowned for offering exceptional and inspiring courses in a range of areas within the art sector.

This Level 3 course has been designed to develop students creative abilities to become a professional makeup artist. The list of subjects and techniques covered is broad and exciting including Avant Garde & High Fashion, Airbrush Henna and Body Art, Creative Fantasy Hair Design, Prosthetics & SFX, Theatrical & Stage Makeup, Photographic and Bridal Hair and Makeup.

Makeup Artistry Lecturer at SGS College, Jade Coates, has over seventeen years' experience in cosmetic and media makeup. Jade’s worked with some of the best makeup artists and celebrity stylists in the industry, winning the coveted Makeup Artist of the Year award in The Lux Life Global Wedding Awards and Makeup Artist of the Year for innovation and excellence in the The Corporate Live Wire Awards.
