SGS Horizon's construction apprentices have been taking their skills to the next level, thanks to a generous donation from Grant Morris at UK Lintels. The donation has provided apprentices with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with cavity lintels, a critical component in modern construction.

Over the past few weeks, apprentices have been busy honing their craft by building soldier courses over cavity lintels, practicing accurate levelling and bedding in situ, ensuring correct bearing requirements are met, and installing trays to comply with industry regulations. This practical experience is an invaluable addition to their training, providing them with the confidence and knowledge needed to meet real-world construction standards.

Speaking about the impact of the donation, Bricklaying Tutor, Lee Merrit said:

“This kind of industry support is vital for our apprentices. Not only does it enhance their learning experience, but it also connects them with the tools and techniques used in today's construction industry.”

The collaboration with UK Lintels doesn't stop there. Plans are already in place for Horizon apprentices to visit UK Lintels' facilities in the near future. This visit will give apprentices the chance to explore the company's extensive product range and gain insights from their in-house experts, further enriching their knowledge and skills.

Grant Morris of UK Lintels commented:

“We're thrilled to support the next generation of construction professionals. It's inspiring to see how dedicated these apprentices are to learning, and we look forward to welcoming them to our site soon.”

The partnership between SGS Horizon and UK Lintels highlights the importance of industry collaboration in shaping the future workforce. Together, they are paving the way for skilled professionals who are well-equipped to meet the demands of the construction sector.
