Your placed is guaranteed at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College

In light of the unique scenario presented by the Covid-19 outbreak, full-time applicants applying to South Gloucestershire and Stroud College for September 2020 will be offered unconditional places through the supported approach offered by the College’s new GuaranteED concept.

The government cancellation of the 2020 summer exam series will have undoubtedly unsettled thousands of students that were preparing for exams and assessments. SGS strongly feel that no young person should be disadvantaged as a result of this cancellation or anxious about their future. The College has made the decision to guarantee places for September in the hope that it will reassure future learners and reduce the stress of applications who would otherwise be part of an interview process involving circa 2,500 people post restrictions.

Assistant Principal of 16-19 Curriculum, Stuart Evans, explains the process:

“It couldn’t be simpler. Once you apply for your course; you will receive a communication offering you a place. You just need to accept the offer, if you wish to. We will then be in touch to discuss the offer once the Covid-19 risk reduces.”

He added: “Year 11 learners have already had so much uncertainty surrounding their GCSEs so we want to reassure them and give them peace of mind that their place is secure and guaranteed at SGS.”

In further efforts to make sure applicants feel supported in this unsettling time, the institution has launched their PreparED programme. Applicants will have a series of course specific activities to complete, aiming to prepare learners, build confidence and bridge the gap that may have been lost from leaving school early.

SGS Campus doors may be closed but they are very much open to support current and future learners. There is still time to apply for September - with a range of courses to choose from, there really is something for everyone.
