High achieving students included Cameron Holder, who received A* in Additional Science, A in English Language, A in Psychology & Distinction* in Level 2 Business and Matylda Chojak, who received A in Additional Science, A in English, A* in Maths, B in Psychology, A in Core Science and B in Sociology.

Today also saw a number of ecstatic mature students who were obtaining GCSEs in subjects that they had previously missed at school.

33-year-old mum of two Kathy, secured a C in Maths, which means she can now go to university. Kathy said: “studying at night school with two young kids is a challenge but I’m so glad I did it. I didn't pay much attention at school so didn’t get the grades I needed for the career I wanted. I've been a nanny for 15 years but I’ve always wanted to work in Midwifery or Children's Nursing. With the C in maths I can now go to university next year when the kids start school. Can't wait!”

Learners, Emma and Tara, both secured C grades in their Maths GCSE; just what they needed it to get into university to study for a Nurses degree. Emma said: I’m really happy! I always found maths difficult so I’m delighted to secure the C grade. Thanks to my teacher Julie Nelson. She was brilliant!”

SGS College Principal, Sara-Jane Watkins comments: “Today has been a real joy for so many of our learners. What’s interesting with GCSE Results day at SGS is to see the vast mix of people that study them. They each have different goals and reasons for studying. So many achieved their goals today, I’m very happy for them.”
