SGS College’s level 1 Enterprise students hosted a gala dinner on Thursday 30th May to raise money for St Mungo’s homeless charity and OTR (Off the Record) mental health charity in Bristol.
Taking place at the College’s Filton Campus, the students prepared a delicious four course meal for guests, along with canapés and welcome drinks. The evening also included entertainment and an auction with fabulous prizes to be won.
Prior to the event the students put a lot of effort into their planning. In the days leading up to the event they even gave up their free time over the half-term break, working long hours each day to ensure their project would be a success.
Through sale of tickets to the event and the auction held on the night, the students raised a whopping £1520 to be split between the two charities.
Speaking about the event, Head of Department for Employability and Progression at SGS, Kate Hartshorn, said:
“The event was a huge success. Considering the students are not studying hospitality they did an outstanding job. All of our Enterprise students have achieved beyond expectation with their projects.”
Throughout April and May other groups of Enterprise students also ran projects including the sale of customised hampers, a community fete and car boot sale, raising hundreds of pounds for their chosen charities.
