Hours

40 hours a week, between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday – Friday. Apprentice will attend college 1 day per week at our Filton Campus.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As an apprentice you will be:

  • Working alongside our nursery practitioners to care for the children and help reach their full potential whilst learning about the world of Early Years through your apprenticeship program.
  • By choosing the apprenticeship route you will be able to learn about the policy and theory that underpins what we do, whilst being able to put this directly into proactice with little ones you already know and have built up a bond with.
  • Our other brilliant and experieced practitioners will be on hand to refer to while you implement all the things you have learnt.

Your training plan

Level 3 Early Years Educator standard.

Apprentices must successfully complete a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification. Please refer to the DfE list of approved EYE qualifications:

Apprentices without either Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirements are Entry Level 3.

Apprentices must successfully complete a paediatric first aid qualification in line with the requirements of the EYFS Framework (Annex A): Early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

You will be required to complete Functional Skills mathematics and English (where applicable), Employment Rights and Responsibilities and British Values.

Location: South Gloucestershire and Stroud College - Filton Campus.

Duration: 18-24 months.
